Tor over VPN
Combining VPN tunnels with Tor for Stripchat anonymity.
Definition
Tor over VPN means you connect to a VPN first, then launch Tor Browser. Your ISP sees only VPN traffic, while Tor entry nodes see the VPN's IP instead of yours.
Why it matters
- Extra privacy: Prevents ISPs from knowing you use Tor, which can be suspicious in some countries.
- Access control: Tor exit nodes may be blocked by Stripchat; adding a VPN exit improves compatibility.
- Defense in depth: Even if a Tor entry node is malicious, it can't see your real IP because the VPN masks it.
Caveats
- Expect slower speeds - two hops of encryption add latency.
- Trust the VPN: it still sees you using Tor, so pick audited providers.
- Always keep Tor Browser updated; VPN protection doesn't fix Tor-level exploits.
