How recursive resolvers fetch Stripchat records on your behalf.

Definition

A recursive DNS server (resolver) receives queries from client devices and does the work of walking the DNS hierarchy - root, TLD, authoritative - until it obtains the answer, caching responses for reuse.

Why it matters

  • Control point: ISPs can censor Stripchat by forcing their recursive resolvers to return errors.
  • Performance: Fast, privacy-respecting resolvers reduce latency when Stripchat loads media-heavy pages.
  • Customization: Switching to public resolvers (Cloudflare 1.1.1.1, Google 8.8.8.8) restores reliable answers when the default resolver is tampered with.

  1. Configure preferred resolvers in your OS or router, then flush caches so new settings take effect.
  2. Use encrypted resolver protocols (DoH/DoT) to keep recursive queries private.
