Third-party identity verification provider that runs OnlyFans' selfie and document checks.

Definition​

Ondato is a know-your-customer (KYC) and anti-money-laundering (AML) vendor that supplies identity verification flows-document capture, selfie liveness tests, and database checks-to digital platforms. OnlyFans relies on Ondato to confirm that both creators and subscribers are adults before unlocking explicit content or payouts.

Why it matters​

  • Regulatory compliance: Outsourcing to Ondato helps platforms satisfy age-assurance and AML requirements in markets such as the UK, EU, and the United States.
  • Fraud reduction: Biometric comparisons and tamper detection stop fake IDs, deepfakes, or proxy runners from onboarding.

Notes​

  1. Ondato reviews usually finish within a few hours, but manual escalations can extend to 24-48 hours during peak periods.
  2. Submissions must stay under provider file-size caps (OnlyFans currently limits uploads to 7 MB per image).
  3. If a submission fails, re-upload from the same IP address so the risk engine sees a consistent session rather than a suspicious location change.
