Dynamic IP Address
ISP-assigned IPs that change and complicate Stripchat hosting.
Definition
A dynamic IP address is assigned by DHCP and can change whenever the device reconnects to the network. Most residential ISPs issue dynamic IPs.
Why it matters
- Blocks by subnet: ISPs can rotate you onto an IP where Stripchat is blocked; reconnecting may land on an open subnet.
- Self-hosted relays: Hosting services on dynamic IPs requires DDNS or static-IP add-ons so users reach you reliably.
- Risk of bad reputation: Dynamic ranges often share reputational baggage, so some Stripchat endpoints may throttle them.
Tips
- If a block persists, restart the modem/router to request a new IP.
- Use DDNS services so friends or monitors always know your current address.
- For mission-critical mirrors, upgrade to static IP service or host in the cloud.
