DNS Leak Protection

Ensuring Stripchat lookups stay inside the VPN tunnel.

Definition

DNS leak protection keeps your operating system from sending DNS queries outside the VPN tunnel. When enabled, all lookups go through the provider's encrypted resolvers instead of your ISP's, preventing sites like Stripchat from being identified or blocked by DNS monitoring.

Why it matters

  • Privacy: Even if traffic is encrypted, DNS leaks reveal which domains you visit.
  • Censorship bypass: ISPs often block Stripchat by intercepting DNS; leaks would reintroduce the block.
  • Consistency: Prevents intermittent access issues where the page loads yet assets fail because some requests used the wrong resolver.

Tips

  1. Turn on the DNS leak protection toggle inside your VPN app.
  2. After connecting, run leak tests (dnsleaktest.com) to confirm only VPN resolvers appear.
  3. Disable smart-multi-network features (like Windows "autodetect") that can override DNS settings when switching Wi-Fi.
